Pilot 1: A more intelligent, flexible and sustainable campus
With smart tools, we work together to find smart solutions to make the campus even more intelligent, flexible and sustainable. We do this by placing wireless sensors in various places on campus. Among other things, the sensors measure temperature, relative humidity, C02 and movement in a specific room.
Using data and smart applications to improve the working and living environment
With the collected (anonymised) data, we can link different factors and then use intelligent applications to improve the working and living environment of students and staff. Our ultimate goal is to create an intelligent building that automatically adapts to the situation. For example, by automatically adjusting ventilation and temperature to where the building's users are. The smart campus is thus an intelligent building that contributes to better education and research.
Smart campus throughout the Netherlands
We are also investigating which platform is suitable for securing the data and keeping it accessible. Security, privacy and data retention are the main areas of focus here. Other educational institutions in the Netherlands are developing similar initiatives. This provides a basis for knowledge building with the aim of implementing smart campus applications throughout the Netherlands.
