Sharing SURF network with collaboration partners
Easy and safe collaboration
Do you have a question about Connecting third parties to the SURF network?
What must a third party comply with?
- The third party is a legal entity.
- The third party's network is managed by the institution connected to the SURF network and is directly liable for and accountable for any incidents caused by the third party.
- The third party's staff size is less than 100 full-time employees.
- The third party belongs to the SURF target group or is a collaboration partner in research and development or operations of the SURF-network member institution.
Network connection only, no additional services
A third party connected to the SURF network does not receive a user agreement. The third party will therefore only receive the network connection of Internet and thus not access to additional services such as SURFconext or SURFdomains.
The counterparty will ensure that the third party's use of the SURF Network does not generate excessive data traffic that may adversely affect the functioning or availability of the SURF Network.
If the third party belongs to the SURF target group and does wish to have access to SURF's supplementary infrastructure services, it can also connect directly to the SURF network.
Charges and registration
With the introduction of the All-In network tariff in 2024 for SURF members, there will no longer be a need to pay extra for new third parties connections. However, approval must still be given by SURF.
