About SURFfirewall
With the SURFfirewall service, you secure your SURF network infrastructure connection with a modern next-generation Firewall. SURFfirewall can be deployed as an external (perimeter) firewall but also as a Campus-light variant. It is possible to link internal or campus network segments to the SURFfirewall up to a maximum of 5 VLANs.
Central role for SURF and no procurement burden
SURF takes over the procurement burden from you and arranges the implementation: (hardware) procurement, management, licences and integration with SURFnetwerkinfra functionalities, so that Internet and private (EVPN and L3VPN) connectivity can make use of it.
Decide what traffic you allow
As an institution, you yourself determine the security policy; the firewall rules and the configuration. You manage this from the SURF management portal.
Good integration with the SURFnetinfra connection
SURFfirewall is integrated with the SURFnetinfra connection. If there is a failure, we find out whether it is due to the firewall or the internet connection.

Connecting SURFfirewall: more than just changing a light bulb
