Open educational resources and the role of educational IT professionals
The use of OERs is growing within MBO, HBO and WO institutions. Who are involved in advising lecturers about OERs? What are educational IT professionals, what is their role and where are their needs in professional development? To best support this target group, this exploration was carried out.

Make online learning more motivating with learning analytics
Can we use technology to better motivate students who are at risk of falling behind? Can we closely monitor learning outcomes in lessons involving large groups of students? And can we make interventions to improve learning outcomes scalable and sustainable? Finding answers to these questions was the goal of the PerActiLA project, which stands for personalised student activation through learning analytics-based insights on learning processes.

In social science courses, statistics is an important but also difficult subject. Students want to practise a lot and that means lecturers have a lot of work in making all those assignments. Four universities took the initiative to join forces and create an open environment for statistics assignments.
VR makes preparing and practising practicals life-like
Students often find chemistry practicals exciting. A lot can go wrong, resulting in quite high costs and safety risks. WUR developed a virtual chemistry practical together with the RUG to let students first practice virtually with virtual reality glasses in preparation for physical practicals.
Nursing students learn clinical reasoning with videos and interaction
How do you teach nursing students clinical reasoning? How do you bring them into contact with situations at home, in the nursing home, hospital or GP? Context is important for interpreting a situation. Utrecht University of applied sciences and Fontys developed video-based materials thanks to the Open and Online Education Incentive Scheme.
Improve lab skills? Use interactive videos
Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences students experience high pressure during practicals because they still lack the skills to perform actions properly. Leiden University therefore developed interactive videos on these skills. This leads to better learning results, lower study pressure and less workload for lecturers and supervisors of practicals.
Knowledge development in open and online education
Thanks to the grant from the Open and Online Education Incentive Scheme, many projects have been developed and much knowledge has been gained about OERs and online education. These have been further developed into products or services. Read more about this on the pages:
