Keynotes SURF Education Days
Listen to Dolf Jansen and Jitske Kramer's keynote on digital transformations, discover Peter-Paul Verbeek's vision on educational digitisation and be inspired by Dominic Seldis' musical outlook.
Prof Peter-Paul Verbeek is Rector Magnificus, member of the Executive Board and Professor of Philosophy, Ethics of Science and Technology in a Changing World. Peter-Paul Verbeek is pre-eminently someone who has set the tone in his career with his research into the ethical relationship between humans and technology, where his passion lies in both research and teaching.
International recognition
Internationally, he receives standing ovations for his Theory of Technological Mediation. This theory studies the harmony between technology, society, humans and the world. He also sets the tone as chair of both the UNESCO World Commission on the Ethics of Science and Technology (COMEST) and the ECP's Ethics and Digitisation Steering Committee. Verbeek has further served, among others, as vice-president of the Rathenau Institute and chair of the KNAW Committee on Freedom of Science.
Vision on digitisation in education
Paul is coming to the SURF Education Days to give his vision on how together as institutions we can digitise education responsibly.
About keynote Dominic Seldis
Although internationally known as a charismatic television personality, Dominic is primarily the talented first double bass player of the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam and conductor. In the Netherlands, the general public got to know him as a jury member of the popular television programme Maestro.
An inspiring speaker outside music
Over the past decade, Dominic has developed as an inspiring speaker outside music. His lectures are characterised by his humour and in-depth knowledge of the classical music industry, which he makes full use of as a musician, orchestra manager and conductor.
As the concluding keynote at the Education Days, Dominic Seldis takes us on a journey through the world of music, speaking on important topics such as collaboration and leadership. He strongly believes in the importance of acceptance within teams, encouraging team members to express their creativity. By embracing creativity, teams and organisations can achieve extraordinary results.
The power of collaboration in music and education
At the SURF Education Days, Dominic inspiringly draws the parallel between cooperation within and between institutions and cooperation within an orchestra. In doing so, he will use practical examples from his own experiences as a guide. Because as a double bass player and conductor, he knows better than anyone how to set the right tone. How do you work together to make music in harmony and what role do you assume in this?
Dominic comes to Amare together with his pianist, allowing us not only to listen to the power of collaboration, but also to experience its harmony.
About keynotes Jitske Kramer and Dolf Jansen
Every Great Transformation
Every great transformation involves letting go of the familiar, pushing boundaries, challenging the established order and challenging authorities. Travel with us through the confusing interim, a complex transition phase in which the world seems to be playing with its own rules.
In her keynote, Jitske Kramer explains what it means to be culturally lost and how creation, courage and leadership are essential to arrive at new solutions. How do you get a grip on uncertainty and deal with disagreements, power struggles and the chaos of transformation processes?
But Jitske is not coming to the SURF Education Days alone! Dolf Jansen is coming along and will challenge her to look differently at power, differences and similarities.
Jitske's anthropological lessons and the state of the country through Dolf's eyes will yield good discussions and surprising new insights.
