Making Studying Abroad Easier with MyAcademicID and eduXchange

Students will soon find it easier to take courses at other European universities. Through the integration of MyAcademicID and eduXchange, participating European educational institutions will be able to exchange student data easily and securely. This will make studying abroad much easier.

The integration of MyAcademicID with eduXchange promotes student mobility and represents an important step towards a modern, European higher education system.

Control over own learning route

On eduXchange, a pilot platform developed by SURF, students can browse a range of courses offered by various (Dutch) educational institutions. If they wish to take a course at another (European) institution, they will soon be able to log into their own institution’s student account via MyAcademicID. With their consent, the necessary information, such as grades and completed courses, will be securely shared with the partner university. Students can withdraw their consent at any time, maintaining control over their data and shaping their own learning path.

Easier enrolment abroad

The integration of these two platforms is a collaboration between SURF and the EuroTeQ alliance, aimed at making studying abroad easier. Within the EuroTeQ alliance, partner universities offer courses that students from other universities can take. For instance, Danish students from the Technical University of Denmark can take the course Network Security in France, thanks to an agreement with France's École Polytechnique. Linking the platforms will streamline the enrollment process considerably.

The technical integration between the two platforms is already working. In the last quarter of 2024, the link will be finalised together with the participating institutions.
