Impulse for national networking organisation Open Science Communities-NL

The Open Science Communities-NL network receives a €400,000 grant for knowledge exchange, community management and sustainability. Professionalisation and expansion are also on the programme. The umbrella organisation unites more than two thousand people working on open science within Dutch knowledge institutions.

So far, the work for Open Science Communities-NL is mainly done on a voluntary basis. To consolidate local efforts, ensure long-term sustainability and enable the local embedding of communities, national cooperation is needed. To professionalise the activities, Open Science Communities-NL is therefore receiving a one-off impulse grant of EUR 400,000 for the next four years. SURF is a cooperation partner of Open Science NL in this call.

At the end of 2023, the 12 Open Science Communities in the Netherlands already received a grant of 100,000 euro each. With this, they will expand their local activities over the next three years and strengthen their position within their own institutions. The grant now awarded will then enable coordination and support for these local initiatives on a national level.
