Masterclass

Two-day master class Effective teamwork for cybersecurity teams

In crisis situations and security incidents, it is important to have good communication and coordination. You don't achieve that goal alone. How do you work together optimally within your cybersecurity team and with other teams to achieve your goal?

Effective teamwork
11 — 12 Nov 2024
Time
9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Location
SURF Amsterdam

Collaboration is the foundation

Whether you are a security specialist in a SOC, CSIRT or in a policy-based security team, you regularly collaborate within your team and with other teams in your institution such as your board members, the communications department and other key stakeholders. How do you ensure that these collaborations run smoothly and you form an efficient multi-team system? So that together you achieve cybersecurity goals, and convey the same message to the organisation.

Getting started in practice

How to shape these collaborations is what you will learn in this master class. You will get down to work practically with, among other things, exercises that focus on improving communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills. But the programme also includes guided brainstorming with analogous forms of cooperation: what is the current state of the cooperation and which steps can be taken to improve it? And how do you mobilise colleagues to achieve certain goals together? What means of communication do you use? And how do you share your knowledge effectively? What do you discuss in meetings? How do you ensure broad-based decisions and perspectives? What expectations do you place on colleagues?

What do you take home?

This master class offers you concrete tools and strategies to improve cooperation within your cybersecurity team and with other teams. You can start working immediately to take cybersecurity awareness in your institution to the next level together.

"The lecturers know how to quickly build trust between the different trainees which increases mutual trust within this group of trainees unknown to each other within which each one quickly feels at ease to safely bring forward his/her own input, strengths and weaknesses. As a result, in addition to the lecturers' knowledge, we learn a lot from each other, it is often a feast of recognition and the tips and advice to each other are particularly valuable."
Helmut Grams

Extra: coaching session

A free online coaching session with one of the trainers is included for the first 20 registrants. The coaching session will be scheduled at a later time and can take place via videoconference. In this session, you will go deeper into your team's situation and the trainer will give tailored advice. Places will be allocated in order of registration (one coaching session per organisation/team).
