Collaborations and projects

On this page, you will discover various collaborations and projects that encourage the sharing and reuse of digital learning materials to keep education future-proof.

Cooperation programme: Npuls

Together with Npuls, the National Growth Fund programme by and for all public Dutch higher education institutions, we are working within the Digital Learning Materials transformation hub to create a more efficient and accessible system for digital learning materials. In doing so, we focus on the following objectives:

  • Control at educational institutions
As the education sector, we are taking control of the creation, sharing, reuse and procurement of digital learning resources. We do this by facilitating discussions about copyright, data, metadata, ICT standards and the procurement and co-creation of learning materials. We record the agreements in a public-private agreement system.
  • Naturally open
Npuls supports educational institutions to make the use of Open Educational Resources self-evident. The focus is on policy, organisation and awareness regarding the development, sharing and use/reuse of digital OERs. We also encourage knowledge sharing within the edusources community.
  • Access in one central location
Through Npuls, teachers and learners get access to a diverse and up-to-date range of digital learning resources in one central location. To this end, Npuls is developing a national digital ecosystem for sharing and reusing digital learning resources for all sectors.

More information on the activities can be found in the roadmap of the digital learning materials transformation hub. Also see the annual plan 2024, which also includes the bigger ambitions until 2032, or the presentations.

Service portfolio and further development

In the coming years, SURF will work on a coherent service portfolio for digital learning resources. This consists of edusources, NL Bron/sharecontrol, CopyrightCheck, copyright.nl and joint procurement of digital learning materials and support for teachers and education professionals.

Technical further development

WithinNpuls' Digital Learning Materials transformation hub, we are working with theLibraries Open & Online Education Working Groupon the technical further development of edusources, so that teachers get the right support to more easily share and (re)use digital learning materials.

Projects from the Open and Online Education Incentive Scheme

Grants from theIncentiveSchemefor Open and Online Educationhave enabled innovative projects involving open digital educational resources to be realised in recent years. All educational resources from these projects are available under an open licence to both instructors and students.
