Knowledge Exchange: sharing knowledge and experiences within Europe

The Knowledge Exchange (KE) partnership focuses on developing coherent policies to improve ICT facilities and infrastructure within European research. KE consists of leading national organisations from Europe, including SURF.

Open science and IT support

In the Knowledge Exchange project, together with five other institutions in Europe, we exchange knowledge and experience on open science and the ict-support that this requires. Knowledge Exchange focuses in particular on cooperation between experts and institutions and the formation of coalitions of pioneers in the field of open science. The platform is intended for institutions and partnerships that want to share knowledge, experience and information in the field of open science and the ICT support thereof. This exchange results in initiatives to develop new instruments or partnerships.

Six partners form Knowledge Exchange

The KE partners are 6 key national organisations in Europe that are committed to developing infrastructure and services to enable the use of digital technologies for higher education and research. These are:

Vision

With our five partners, we share a clear vision: the results of publicly funded scientific research must be accessible to everyone. To make this possible, we start new activities from knowledge exchange between experts, to support the development of digital infrastructure.

Expertise groups

Knowledge Exchange has two international expert groups. In these, current developments are discussed and projects are started, also involving other experts. The Open Access expert group includes Dutch open access experts Saskia Woutersen - Windhouwer (Leiden University) and Jeroen Sondervan (Utrecht University). In the Open Scholarship expert group, the Netherlands is represented by Clifford Tatum (CWTS) and Laurents Sesink.
