More control over student work you share with plagiarism scan providers
Via an ibron, data is loaded from your learning management system (LMS) and using rules you determine which customer has access to specific documents or materials for which retention period. This way, as an institution, you maintain control over student work shared with plagiarism scan suppliers.
Pilot phase started
An ibron is part of the NL Bron service. The aim of NL Bron is to give institutions more control over the data they share with applications or suppliers. The NL Source project will go live in 2025, but your institution can already participate in the pilot phase. In this phase, you can already link your LMS, or digital learning environment such as Canvas or Brightspace, with an ibron.
Advantages of the link
The link offers several advantages:
- The more data you make available to a plagiarism scan provider via an ibron and NL Source, the more student work can be compared and scanned and it can be checked whether there is a match with previously delivered student work.
- You check yourself whether the data is properly stored in your institutional source and set your own rules about which data you share with plagiarism scan suppliers and for which retention period. This gives you insight into possible data loss when migrating to another plagiarism scan product.
- Because NL Source can also be made available to other plagiarism scan suppliers, dependence on one specific supplier is reduced.
- You can give feedback on the service and on the metadata editor. This way, you make sure the service meets your specific needs.
- An ibron is already linked to other LMS systems or can be quickly linked to other systems such as CopyrightCheck. This saves a lot of time.
- You can easily make educational resources and theses available from your LMS to SURFsharekit. There they can be enriched with metadata and published on various portals, such as HBO Knowledge Bank or edusources.
What can you do?
Would you like to link your LMS to an ibron? Then send an e-mail to nlbron@surf.nl. Please note that about 4 hours are needed from an LMS administrator to set up the link. Of course, we are happy to help with this.
