Jet de Ranitz is leaving SURF

Jet de Ranitz has announced her resignation after 4.5 years as CEO and board member at SURF cooperation. Ron Augustus and Hans Louwhoff, fellow board members at SURF, will assume the board duties, with Ron Augustus taking over the role of CEO from De Ranitz ad interim as of 5 September.

In the coming period, De Ranitz will focus on transferring her knowledge. Under De Ranitz's leadership, SURF was closely involved in the digitisation of education during corona and the rise of AI in education, research and society in general. From November 1st, De Ranitz will start as Public Sector Lead at Microsoft.

Harry van Dorenmalen, SURF Supervisory Board chairman: "We are extremely grateful to Jet for her efforts at SURF. Thanks to Jet, the subject of digitisation has really reached the board tables. She also brought the old SURF operating companies into one integrated SURF organisation. We appreciate how much Jet has meant to SURF and will miss her. Thanks to her leadership, SURF is ready for the future."

De Ranitz took over the role as CEO within SURF in 2020. Under her leadership, both the organisation and SURF cooperative have grown significantly. In recent years, all education institutions have become members of SURF. The organisation itself grew from 350 to 500 employees, and SURF's position as a reliable and innovative partner of education and research was strengthened.

Jet de Ranitz: "My passion for digitisation has only grown at SURF. I am very proud of what the education and research sector has achieved together with SURF. I was honoured to contribute to this. My personal mission for accessible and secure IT is not finished yet and I welcome the opportunity to continue this elsewhere. I will greatly miss all those involved in SURF cooperative, I would like to thank them for their trust during my time as CEO."

The Supervisory Board, in coordination with the Members' Council and the Works Council, will start the procedure to provide for succession. More details on the procedure will be announced later.
